Getting Better

Lydia and I have both been resting and getting better this week. (Sorry, you will have to make do with more pictures from last week's piggy tales as I was not getting my camera out this week.) Lydia has had a double ear infection and a cough that makes her vomit about once a day. I have had some evil cold, maybe the adult version of what Lydia had. I think after too many days home from work, we are finally both getting better.
Something else that got a whole lot better this weekend is my car situation. My old car had 220+ thousand miles on it. No major problems yet, but I didn't want to be stuck somewhere with Lydia when something did break down. I had made a couple of deals through e-bay which all fell apart, but while recovering on the couch I found a local ad for exactly what I was looking for, my old car, just newer, fewer miles, a few more features, and a really good price. Suddenly with marathon training canceled due to my illness, and several family members available to watch Lydia, PJ and I decided to drive down to Atlanta to make the deal. The only catch was that the dealership (which was 4 hours away) closed at 6pm and we decided to go at 11am. PJ had been working at the shop and needed to shower and change cloths. There was the potential for an overnight if it got too late, so Lydia needed an overnight bag packed. Then at about 11:45 I wondered to PJ if we shouldn't take some of the junk out of my car, just in case the Atlanta dealership was willing to even consider a trade in. Suddenly we were running it through the car wash, vacuuming it, and taking everything out. Then one last trip to the house to grab the title, just in case, and we were on our way. After driving, I mean rattling along, in my old car for hours, the newer one felt SO smooth. It is the same exact car as my old one, my third Honda CRV in 13 years, but this one is a newer generation, so an updated body style, it has a LOT less miles, and is the EX version so it has a moon roof and a few extra features. Needless to say we were glad we made the drive and ecstatic when they offered us the exact amount we had previously decided to sell my old car for. PERFECT. I was so grateful to PJ for taking off from things he needed to do this weekend, to Jen, Pop Pop, Nana, and Ann Marie for being willing to keep Lydia on very short notice, and to the Hayes Auto Dealership in ATL for taking my trade so PJ and I didn't have to manage two cars on that long late drive home.

Piggy Tales!

How has more than a week past since I posted last? Oh, yeah. Both of my computers needed major work, my Internet was down and Lydia and I have both been sick. She has a double ear infection and I have a killer sore throat. I did manage to find time to try a new hairstyle on Lydia last weekend. That's right her hair is now, just barely, long enough for PIG TAILS! This makes me happy. Very very happy!
Apparently I am not the only one!

Happy Valentines Day!

Here is Lydia in her Valentines Day outfit and here are the cards we made (we meaning me and the several tech support guys from Sprint and Hewlitt Packard!) for daycare. Nothing too fancy. We fingerpainted several weeks ago with the idea that I would cut out hearts and glue them to printed cards. The printing turned out to be the problem as my internet went out and everyting, including the printer, and any information about fixing the printer were set to run off the internet. For the moment, the technology gods are smiling on me, and the weather gods may have joined in on the fun as it's snowing and I got the day off from work! We will have to wait to see if the daycare party is still happening. Either way it's a HAPPY DAY! Hugs and Kisses!

Big Fun in the Bathroom

Last weekend, Lydia and I hung out for a while in the bathroom. It was snowy/slushy and we were getting tired of being couped up in the living room. So we played with water and bath toys in the sink...for hours! Pretty soon Lydia noticed the potty. We were gifted a toddler toilet seat and Lydia became very curious. She kept saying "potty" so I took off her diaper and set her on it. Between the sink and the potty, we had big fun in the bathroom. At the end of the day, there was even a little present floating in the commode courtesy of our little lady. Since then, we have been sitting Lydia on the potty while getting her dressed and most mornings she will cooperate and use the potty. Big fun for mommy to think about too!

Making Valentines

Last weekend, when it was snowing, I pulled out the paper and the paints.
My idea was to have Lydia finger paint with Valentine colored paints so that I would have some interesting paper to make her Valentine cards for daycare.
She really liked how sticky her hands felt with the paint on them. She was not thrilled about moving the paint around on the paper. Next time I will wait to purchase real fingerpaints instead of using my sticky acrylics. Next time I will use washable paint AND have her wear a smock! It sounded like a good idea....Oh well at least she enjoyed some part of it!

The Girls Playing

Just a few pics of Lydia and Alyssa playing with the mega blocks that Aunti Jen bought for Christmas. Thanks to the Mega Pack of Mega Blocks there were plenty for everyone.
